Recently some dear friends come to stay.
At breakfast time I offered up toast with all the usual spread options, and they pounced on the jar of homemade peanut butter.
They layered it on their toast and took a bite. They looked up from their plates and started raving about it…they loved it!
So many questions came…How did you make this? What's the recipe? Is it hard to do? Why do you make it?
My answer was really simple. It’s as easy as nuts in a blender. That's it, seriously.
And I do it because it's a simple, healthy and totally easy way to eat nut butter.
Honestly though, what I also know is that the simple act of opening a bag of peanuts and blending them to create something delicious, is an act of mindfulness. It offers me a chance to connect to my values of simplicity, creativity and presence with the things that matter.
More and more I’m finding that getting back to basics in simple, do-able ways is helping me stay present, connected to my heart and to those things that truly matter in my life. And they are fun too!
By the way, if you want to try making your own peanut butter, here’s how:
Simply empty a bag of nuts into your blender (tip: you'll need one with a strong motor) and blend on high until the nuts break down and form a smooth or crunchy paste. That’s it. Spoon into a jar and you’re all set.
Enjoy....I can’t wait to hear how you go.
If you're searching for ways to bring more mindfulness into your daily routine, I can help. Let's talk, I'd love to help you find the simpler life you are craving.
Such an important message. Appreciate the work you do Jen.
Love you nut buttter!!
